Essential Information

Hopefully you will find all the practical information you need about school in this section. If there is anything further you require please contact the school office.

Please help us to get the school day off to a good start by ensuring children are in the playground before the bell goes at 8:50 am. The playground is staffed from 8:40 am. Children should not be left in the playground on their own before this time.

Start of School Day: 8:50 am

Morning Break: 10.45 am

Lunch time: 12:15 to 1:10 pm

End of School Day: 3:15 pm

Children arriving to school late or leaving early: Children arriving late must go to the school office to be signed in before he/she goes to class. Any child arriving after 9.30 a.m. will have an unauthorised absence recorded. If you need to collect your child from school during the course of the school day (e.g. for a medical appointment) please go to the school office to sign your child out and a member of staff will collect your child from class.

Authorised absence: Absences (unless medical) and holiday during term time should be avoided. Only in extreme cases will absences be authorised as per the guidance from the Department of Education.

Download the authorised absence request form here.

School Security
The school gate is on a time lock and will automatically open at 8.40am and lock at 8.55am (5 minutes after the school morning starts) and will re-open at 3.10pm for parents to access the office if required. Outside these times the gate is operated by a ‘door-entry’ system and visitors can speak to a member of staff before gaining entry to the school. All visitors including parents must go to the school office to sign in and be given a visitors sticker before entering the school. Please remember to sign out before you leave the school.

Sickness – If your child is unable to attend school please phone or email the school office before 9 am. On return to school please send a note to the class teacher explaining reason for absence. Please keep your child at home if he/she has had sickness or diarrhoea for 48 hours after last bout of sickness/diarrhoea as this helps stop the spread of infection.

Medical Information and Medicines: We need to know of any medical conditions or allergies your child may have. If your child has asthma or diabetes please contact the school office for a form and information on how we handle this in school. We will not and do not give any medicines including Calpol and antibiotics to pupils. If necessary you may come in to school to give these if your child is ill but well enough to be in school.

Lunch: Please click here for more information

Snack: Children can bring a healthy snack for morning break such as a piece of fresh or dried fruit. On a Friday only, children can bring a snack of their choice but no sweets or chocolate please.

Fruit and Vegetables: Children in Reception and Years 1 & 2 will be eligible for a portion of fruit or vegetable as part of the Governments Fruit and Veg. Scheme which is to encourage healthy eating. Please let us know if you do not want your child to have this.

Water: Children are encouraged to stay hydrated throughout the day. Water bottles (with name on) can be left in school to refill with fresh water each day.
