How to make a jam sandwich

In English, the children have been looking at instructional writing and understanding what makes a good set of instructions. We learnt what an imperative verb is and how these are important in instructions. Elm Class had a visit from ‘Sandwich Bot’ from ‘Sandwich World’ who was sent to Whiteshill for her training. Elm Class had to help ‘Sandwich Bot’ make a jam sandwich by using clear, precise instructions! The children then had a go making their own jam sandwiches which of course they enjoyed eating.

In maths, Year 2 have been learning to use directional language in the context of clockwise and anti-clockwise as well as quarter, half and three quarter turns. In Year 1 we have finished our unit on fractions by learning to use the fraction notations of 1/4 and 1/2.

Elm class have started their ‘We are Artists’ topic with great success! They have been exploring line as well as creating different sketching techniques using different graded pencils. It has been a fun-filled week in Elm Class!
