Elm Class and The Great Fire of London
In English, the children have been writing Great Fire of London diary entries from the point of view of Boxton the dog who is a character in ‘Vlad and the Great Fire of London’ by Kate Cunningham. They have focussed particularly on writing in the past tense.
In maths, Year 2 have been tackling fractions with a focus on recognising ¼ 2/4 and ¾, whilst Year 1 are finding out all about how to measure weight, mass and capacity – you can see from this week’s photograph they have had lots of practical experience and fun!
Elm class have started to look at the Great Fire of London as part of their Houses and Homes project. This week they have become architects – designing their own plans for how they would rebuild London after the fire, using their knowledge of what happened to help them design a safer London.
